Well, it does heat the main and upper floors of the house. Not the basement as the stove is in the main living room. It is attractive red enamel. Covered ashcan - good idea.
Griddle has never fitted properly because the casting tolerance of the top section is way too generous so air has always been able to enter and escape from the top of the stove. Dealer absolutely no help whatsoever. Forced to go direct to area rep. Got new griddle which, being the same size as the old one made no difference. Eventually went to the regional rep who, amazingly, got me a new griddle. I kept telling them the top casting was too sloppy but got nowhere.
Ashpan door very sloppy fit, very hard to get lid on ashcan, and to close ashpan door.
Nuts fall out, things fall off. Andirons keep coming loose.
Back puffing a big problem, smoke billowing out of the top where the griddle doesn't fit scaring the dog !
Glass on inside out on delivery.
Obviously was a floor model as someone had burned lumber in it before delivery. What that did to the catalyst I don't know.
I could go on and on about our bad experiences with this stove. That we have suffered with it for ten years does show that we actually got heat out of it.
Now that we have discovered that the (second) catalytic converter is shot I am not paying to keep this lemon going any longer.
Going to buy a Pacific Energy non catalytic.
Recommendation: Do not under any circumstances be tempted into buying this stove.
