Very attractive, seems to be very well designed and well manufactured. Simple controls--just one lever, and it works reliably and consistently. I love the cooktop--use it for soups, stews and even breakfast on weekends.
I knew of the following issues from other hearth.net ratings: doesn't live up to estimated burn times, and glass gets dirty. These problems are apparently shared by most stoves. I haven't yet made a full effort for an all night burn, but if the damper is closed most of the way, I can easily have enough hot coals to quick start a new fire in the morning, and the stove does retain heat a long, long time. As to the glass--it does get dirty when the fire isn't hot, particularly when starting a fire without a bed of hot coals. But a hot fire cleans most of the glass. Not that big a deal, in my opinion.
I ordered it on a Thursday from Lehman's, and it arrived in Southern Indiana the following Monday! I give Lehman's only a 2 because they sometimes don't answer email questions. They're very good on the phone, however. In truth, I am "very satisfied" with them, but I hate to give all 1's.
I would have considered a Jotul, but they didn't have one the right size, and with right-side loading. I've only had the Ashling one month, but so far I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Of course it hasn't gotten really cold yet, so consider this a partial review. We'll see how I feel about in in January, when it counts!
