Likes: Ten hour burns with ample coals to rekindle new load. Glass stays clean with normal burning. Very efficient with little or no smoke coming from chimney. Little or no creosote buildup so it is a safer stove than many. Burning 20 to 25% less wood than previous stoves. Large side loading door with no smoke coming into house with loading resulting in less dust in the house. Easy stove to light and maintain even consistent burn. Beautiful stove to look at!

Dislikes: Knob on side feed door is small and metal causing it to be hot. Use leather welders gloves when reloading - a good precaution against burns with any wood stove. Draft control is located on back of stove and unless adequately illuminated, it is difficult to see the settings.

Comments: The soapstone radiates the heat very evenly and heats our house more uniformly than any previous wood stove. Some folks do not like catalytic combustors but given the ease of operation, long burn times and high efficiency, I like them and would consider buying another Cat stove in the future. This stove allows me to sleep all night without reloading. what price do you place on a good nights sleep? If you are looking for a stove for a quick evening fire for some additional heat and ambience, maybe a steel stove would be better as they heat faster at the expense of long burn times and even heat. The Fireview is more money than some stoves but worth every penney.
