The dealer was very nice and professional and my commnets do not reflect any malace towards them. I would recommend this dealer to anyone. The problems are not their fault.

Dislikes: Pre-cast glass wool combustion chamber burns out after two years of use. Unit glows dull red at back of unit where combustion re-burner wears out. Gaskets to door glass, griddle, internal damper door and cast oval connection need replaced after three years. Poor venting due to ash build up around metal air intake to fire box even after cleaning the ashes out every day. Rear fountain assembly where exhaust gases enter combustion re-burn chamber cracked after less than four years of use.

Comments: Vermont castings no longer honer warrenties before 2008.
The re-burn combustion chamber was replaced 2007 after less than two years of use. Factory replacement was honered then, however V/C is under new ownership and this time they wanted $429.00 plus shipping. This was dealer cost. In my opinion this is a very poorly designed stove and they do not have very good quality controll. I am a retired firefighter/fire inspector and have inspected thousands of stoves and fireplaces. many years of usage with several stoves. It appears that when the companies tried to fullfill the EPA combustion requirements is when many stoves started having problems. This is because they used poor engineering and components to build the re-burners and catalytic burners. I bought a Hearthstone stove. The mansfield model.
