Likes: This Regency insert puts out the heat and doesn't burn much wood. Lifetime warranty, well engineered simple efficient design, great viewing area, the optional screen is a nice feature, the draft control rod has a four inch travel variance allowing fine tune control of heat output. I had this Regency I2400 professionally installed with a stainless steel liner. I get superb drafting and it is easy to light. No smoke into the room during start up. The two speed fan (80cfm and 155cfm) works great and is quiet. The inaudible low speed setting pushes out more than enough hot air. I do not need to use the high speed setting as it would make the room too hot. A nice feature is the automatic thermostat which turns the fan on around 115 degrees F and turns off at 90 degrees F. I am burning oak and the glass stays clean as advertised. I have a two quart aluminum kettle on the stove top that provides steam /humidity even with fan on low. Prior to purchase I had several questions about the I2400 that Regency customer support was quick to answer via direct email. I keep my heat pump furnace fan on a constant low setting and this distributes the Regency insert generated heat throughout my two story home. I have aready experienced a significantly lower electric bill with just two weeks of operation and look forward to more savings. This Regency I2400 simply works great. When I load it at night before bed and choke it down, I know I will wake to a hot bed of coals and then reload it for the day.

Dislikes: None noted with the insert itself but rather with shipping. The insert was delivered to my home while still in the crate. When the installer uncrated the unit, I noticed that the top wood pallet chaffed against the stove top removing some of the paint finish. I notified Regency customer support and they sent a can of touch up paint which I used to repaint the surface. The paint blended in perfectly.

Comments: I read many wood insert reviews on in doing my research prior to making a purchase decision which I took into consideration. I thought it was only fair that I return the favor and contribute with this assessment. I also visited several insert dealerships and personally inspected many inserts of interest. I thoroughly evaluated the Hearthstone Clydesdale and the Lopi Freedom in addition to the Regency I2400. Without going into specific negative details, and all things considered with respect to my criteria and application, this Regency 12400 won hands down. I truly feel that I got the most bang for the buck. I had a great dealer experience and received a very fair price for my Regency insert. As I write this review, I am sitting in front of my Regency I2400 with the screen installed enjoying the crackling sound of a nice fire and it is raining sideways outside. Life is good. I now wonder why I didn't purchase this insert years ago. Coupled with strong customer support, the Regency I2400 is a great value over its competition. If you are looking for a medium size insert, you cannot go wrong with the Regency I2400.
