Likes: Beautiful stove, quite dainty, not at all out of place in a formal living room. Provides an exquisitely comfortable warm heat. Unbelievably easy to operate. Extremely safe surfaces. Long burn cycle. Excellent for cooking & baking, additional top soapstone pieces available, which make perfect all night bed warmers and cold evening foot warmers for knitters or TV watchers. Mass of stove absorbs and slowly releases signifcant heat. Kindling never needed after first coals even after 24 hours. Window stays clear for beautiful viewing and easy fire regulation.
Burns very little wood. Catalytic converter extremely easy to access and clean, and long lasting (5 years). Annual chimney clean, 30 foot chimney yields less 1 cup of dull brown residue.

Dislikes: Wish it had a slightly longer firebox and slightly larger door. Those hard to splt contorted ironwood pieces are wasted. Doesn't produce quite enough heat for comfortable primary heat for a large home when exterior temperatures fall below minus 10 F...not too many days, but COLD then (62 degrees). Magnificent stove which I wish was in production with a larger firebox....

Comments: I hardly use my electric oven or range all winter. Dry my clothes overnight in front of fire when too cold to hang outside, on collapsible portable rack. Care for profoundly handicapped individual who loves stove --the safe soapstone surface makes a wood stove without surround safe for him. Have large home, excessively large and numerous windows on an Ontario designated heritage woodlot
high above and set back a good 200 feet through hardwood from the Rideau, south shore in direct path of northwinds. Ideal woodlot--hardwoods--no protection in winter. This little stove does a mighty job. For my large heavily fenestrated home, wish there was a version with greater capacity. Have the new Progress on order, but hate to retire my Fireview. Will place it in a sunny south window for now so it can absorb sunlight...and down the road perhaps build a garage/cottage. I won't sell it.
Evenings this stove is a magnet for pets and people. Games, socializtion, movies, computer, knitting, spinning, reading, phone conversations...sometimes even sleeping! all done in front of the marvelous Fireview. Has more than paid for itself and cost of chimney installation in energy savings, to say nothing of the fact that the heat is far more comfortable than electric heat. Has paid for itself many times over in terms of enjoyment derived from it, reduction in amount of necessary firewood production. This little stove had enriched our lives. The people at Woodstock, without exception, over the years have been extraordinary. Everyone who sees this stove is impressed and amazed by it. All the negatives one hears about catalytic stoves is nonsense in relation to this stove. Easy to start...20 minutes max after ignition of awareness while engaged elsewhere until the damper is adjusted, then nothing for 8-12 hours. Easy to clean ash, easy to clean catalytic converter, converter lasts very long time and saves a great deal of work and wood during that time. This is a fine stove and should be recognized as one of North America's great marries form and function, is beautiful.
