Blower is included with the package.
Blower is a bit noisy when throttled up near maximum. This is a little irritating when we're in the room, but not a problem when we go to bed.
All things considered, this is my first foray into high-efficiency fireplace inserts, and I've been really happy with it so far. The price was reasonable I felt. And my local installers were pretty good people. I went with it because it was the right size for my home compared to the other models sold by my local fireplace store. And it is US made, which might be the norm for fireplace inserts. And it included a blower fan, integral to the construction.
It puts out great heat, and it's large enough to keep my house at a comfortable temperature through the night. I stoke up the fire, and run my electric-furnace's blower to cycle the warmed air around the house. By morning, there's still hot-coals inside, but it has definitely cooled off a bit. it's still warm enough to keep the electric thermostat on the furnace from kicking on. (I run a mix of douglas fir and alder)
The spec-sheet says it's good for 1200 – 2,200 square feet.
I wanted to go for a Lopi stove, but the Montlake 230 offered me 200 sq-ft more coverage at the top-end, 2 additional hours of burn time (stated), and higher efficiency in the spec-sheet.
The wife is happy because it's warmer than before in our house. And I'm happy because she's happier. Only thing I would advise with this one is compare it to other models with blowers sound levels before buying.
