Likes: Awesome heat output. Clean, sleek design. Vent for heat at higher location, allows you to sit in front of the fireplace without getting scorched. This also helps when loading wood. The digital thermostat and blower controls are wall mounted and give it more of a luxury feel. The blower is much quieter than others I've seen/used.

Dislikes: Size. this is a big unit and requires a little more upfront construction work for the installation. This is mainly due to the higher vent location stated in the pros. It is also a heavy unit coming in at almost 700lbs. The weight of this unit coupled with the masonry work i did post install required me to shore up the floor joist to support everything. My fireplace is in the middle of a room and not on an outside wall which contributed to this. It's worth it though. My only complaint post install and using it has to do with the thermostat control. It's very clean looking (hence the model name) but this limits your ability to easily see where the setting is at. The lever slides very freely which causes some over adjustments. Just something i have to get used to I guess.

Comments: This is my third high efficiency unit. My first was a Lenox Montecito. Heated the home but cheaply made. My second was an insert from Fireplace Xtrordinair (it was the Large Flush Hybrid. This was a great unit and heated the home well. The results of this insert is what attracted me most to the 42 Apex Clean Face unit. I wasn't able to put in an insert based on design of the previous fireplace in the house I moved into. This unit is easy to use and burns nicely. It heats my entire home without ever having to turn on the main heat. With fully dried wood, I get a nice clean burn that lasts overnight. The fire is really easy to maintain and provides a consistent temperature. All in all if you are looking for a very clean, modern looking wood burning fireplace, I highly recommend this unit, it is serving me well!
