    Stove for 700sqf home

A large stove and hearth will also take up a lot of space in a smaller home, maybe the Sirroco 20 would be a better fit? I'm going with a Jotul 602 corner install in my 600 sqft cabin mainly to save space but also like the looks, price and reputation as a great heater.

    Jotul F 602 V2

I think I read somewhere they used Red Oak. They must of modified the stove a bit, I noticed the stated BTU's have increased a tad from the 602 CB. Maybe they increased the combustion air somewhere?

    Jotul F 602 V2

There's EPA testing info in the link if you click technical documentation if anyones interested. Pretty much explains the whole testing method and results. Not real world burning by any means but I guess they need to have some kind of standard for all stoves.

    Jotul F 602 V2

https://jotul.com/us/products/wood-stoves/j%C3%B8tul-f-602-v2 Looks like Jotul made their little giant 2020 compliant and kept it non cat as well. This stove will be going in my cabin this fall.

Thanks, the F45 does have a good snug corner clearance, I'll have to look into this stove more.

    They still make the 606?

    Jotul 602 CB Experiences

Not a fan of the Woodstock steel stoves and the small soapstone stoves are more than twice the price of the 602.

    Jotul 602 CB Experiences

Thanks guys, the Morso 2b Classic is a looker for sure but corner clearance is much larger than the 602, 22" verses 13". I dont mind burning a little propane if needed

    Jotul 602 CB Experiences

Greatings all, havent been around here for quite some time. I'm looking for personal experiences of the 602 such as burn times, heating capacity, ect. I've searched here and there for info and have found some good some bad. What have your experiences been with this stove? I'm looking to install...

    Cleaning a catalytic combustor

Average life of a cat is 12,000 hrs give or take and that number probably has a lot of variables with it. Maybe you can extend that life if your not burning low and slow all the time and keep a little flame going that would keep the cat from doing all the work?

    Cleaning a catalytic combustor

No peeling I could see just some hard light colored deposits mostly on the cat face that wouldnt come loose with a paint brush. My take on these new steel cats is they need a little more maintenance than the ceramics since the holes are much smaller. I tend to brush mine about every two weeks...

Used Woodstock Stove what to look for...

Nice, they are great looking stoves. I wish I could find me a good deal on an old Woodstock Classic to play with.

    Cleaning a catalytic combustor

Looks like I have some new cat life this morning, how long is yet to be determined. I was having problems getting the stove temp up to 500 with a full load of Black Locust before the soak now she's cruising along nicely at 600+. I soaked the cat for 3 hours occasionally lifting it out to flush...

    Cleaning a catalytic combustor

Yeah, I usually do the spray bottle thing once a year, hoping a longer soak will help. Woodstock told me they are waiting on some equipment then they will start making their own cats so they never have this problem again.

    Cleaning a catalytic combustor

Soaking my Keystone cat now in a 50/50 solution, no boil, I'll just let it soak for a couple hours then rise with distilled water. Ive gone 3.5 years with this steel cat and i wanted to replace but Woodstock is having problems with their supplier so they've been out of stock for quite some time...

    Understanding Keystone Burn Times

I always go by the top of the lever, so I'd call that #1, just easier that way for me. When I place it full open the top of the lever is on #4 but like Woody and Fox 0 is about in the middle.

    Understanding Keystone Burn Times

If that's the case he'll prolly have a whole different stove once he fixes that ash pan leak. You can also tighten the ash pan latch if the gaskets OK.

    Understanding Keystone Burn Times

Definitely fix the ash pan gasket but if that doesn't help there is a small hole in the back of the ash pan housing you may want to plug or partialy plug to slow down your draft. Maybe you just have excessive draft? Your new chimney may solve your problems as well, hard to say. How tall is your...

    Ideal Steel Custom Designs

Pretty cool, like the bear andirons and the log cabin but i just don't know if I like that industrial look of the rest of the stove.

    Suggestions to replace DW 2461?

I heated my 1200 sq ft ranch with my Keystone in the worst Wisconsin Winter ever. 3 loads per day during the coldest below zero days and two loads during average temp days.

Green Heat wood fuel bricks on sale at my Menards

Help -- Question, New Ashford Installation

Your cat is probably stalling early because of the warm weather. Once the colder temps arrive the chimney will draft much better and you will be able to turn her down much lower and releye on the t-stat to do its thing. Probably best to break in stove with smaller loads at higher settings.

Help -- Question, New Ashford Installation

I use to burn my Princess at #2 and she gave a nice flame show with clean glass. Anything under #2 and she'd start to blackening up. Lots of different ways to burn these stoves, you don't always need to fill her up and burn low and slow for 24 hours, half loads at higher settings still give you...

End of 2013/2014 season... how much did you use?

1 3/4 cords burned so far, not bad for this brutal Winter. I figure on burning 3+ if this weather continues.

    Your Nat Gas Bill

New gas bill in the mail today and I used 111 therms compared to 160 last month. Quite an improvement by just turning the stove down 3 degrees. Average temp was just about the same as last month but the billing period was a couple days shorter than previous. Still think I could do better if the...

    Fireview Cat Wash

I like the air can method as well. I just remove the scoop, stick the can inside the fire box and let her rip. I'll probably try that 50/50 spray bottle trick at the beginning of each heating season.

I Sit Here And Am So Thankful For 30 F

We're at 41 days below zero this Winter so far, the record is 60 days back in 1977/78! Definitely one of the coldest Winters on record for us.
