    Jotul Oslo 3 yr review

Awesome story. Do you mind describing your cleaning process a little bit more? When you say top do you mean the oval piece or the entire top? When we built our new house we put a new Oslo in and pipe runs straight runs straight up. I had an Oslo at my old house which had an outside T so it...

Hard water in home? Fails test?

Not quite as hard as my water. I use a Fleck 5810 water softener and it handles it just fine.

    Water softener recommendations?

I recently built a house and did a bunch of research and found Fleck as highly recommended. I installed the system I mentioned. There is a lot of support to help configure the settings on the internet. I think you might be able to find a similar sized Fleck softener with a more modern controller.

    Water softener recommendations?

Fleck 5810 SXT. I would stop over to the Terry Love plumbing forum.

    Finally a good stove setup

Thanks. We left the original Oslo with the old house, but since l liked it so much I had a new one installed in our new house. It does look a little different than the older Oslo.

    Finally a good stove setup

We built a new house and I finally have an effective wood stove heater. I have always enjoyed burning wood so I made do with what I could do with my last house. We started with a Oslo in the basement. It was quite a heater but oversized for the space and trying to heat the upstairs wasn’t...

Jotul Oslo - F500. Ten years in.

I had a new Oslo installed in our new house. We went with the same blue-black, but with the rear heat shield. We take ownership of the house on Friday so I will be breaking it in then.

Anyone familiar with UbiFi for Internet?

Thank you for the reviews. I have been searching for internet options as we live into our new house and stumbled across UbiFi. Who would have thought one of my favorite forums would cover this topic? I think I will give UbiFi a try.

    Ceiling chimney support box trim

Turns out the installer need another section of pipe so he hasn’t completed the install yet. He plans to install the trim when he comes back.

Hi. It seems like the ceiling support box should have a trim piece. Does it look missing to you? Thanks.

    Hearth ready for stove

Thanks all. The new house is coming along nicely. My current house we had an offer which fell through so it is back on the market. That is causing some stress. The new house will be a total of 2950 square feet. The downstairs is 2000 square feet. The stove will be in a 400 square ft room...

    Advice on Jotul stove size

I currently have an F500 in a basement and we live in Michigan. The space we heat is 500 square feet. I can easily get it to 100 degrees in the house with just one hot burn. Way too big.

    Hearth ready for stove

Hello All, The new house is getting nearer to completion. They just finished the stone wall that is behind the wood stove. I thought I would share with you. Outside air kit piping sticking up through the floor. A Jotul F500 is going on the hearth in a couple of weeks.

Thanks all for the comments. I wonder if any attention was given to the front door ash issue with the facelift.

I copied an image of the new stove above. Compare it to my avatar image. There are now fewer arches and the ribs on the ash pan door seem to be gone. Chris

    Jotul 500 facelift

Hi all, My dealer informed me of the facelift on the Jotul 500. Has anyone noticed? Do you know if anything else has changed? I was planning to take my current Jotul 500 with me to my new house, but we ended up including it in the house sale.

    Chimney chase size

The picture makes the house look bigger than it is. I am having the wood stove dealer install the pipe. The general contractor didn’t want to take it on. I think the chase is already 2’ taller than needed.

    Chimney chase size

Closing the loop on this. I personally prefer the look of begreen’s vinyl sided chimney than pipe with the bracing. Mine will also be vinyl since it is on the back of the house. It took a drone for me to finally see the chase.

I was looking at some standard sizes. At least what you could get chimney caps for. This led me to something like a 2'x3'.

    Chimney chase size

Hi All, We are building a new home and they are about to frame the chimney chase. We are doing a wood burning stove that will vent straight up and out the roof with 6" class A. That would be the only pipe in the chase. What size chase would you recommend? The contractor recommended a...

Woodstove in new home build - question on piping

I am continuing with the early stages on working with a contractor to build our house. I was sharing our idea of keeping the pipe internal to the house up through the roof and forgoing the chimney chase. The wood stove will be on an external wall on the back of the house. Going straight up...
