New England (MA, CT, ME, NH, VT, RI) Has anyone heard of 2019-2020 pellet shortages?

I live near the NEWPS plant in southwest NH. I have been seeing their trucks fully loaded almost every day out making deliveries to pellet vendors and have noticed stacks of their pellets at various stores in the area.

New England (MA, CT, ME, NH, VT, RI) Has anyone heard of 2019-2020 pellet shortages?

If you look back at the archived posts, we always hear there is going to be a shortage of some sort and the prices will rise due to the usual suspects. I just can’t figure out why those in the West can get softwood Douglas Fir pellets cheaper than we in the Northeast pay for pine softwood...

New England (MA, CT, ME, NH, VT, RI) Has anyone heard of 2019-2020 pellet shortages?

They know what the market will bear here based on propane and oil prices. You’ll hear the usual reasons, such as transportation costs are up, gate fees are up, etc., but it’s simply supply and demand. If the Northeast had lower propane prices like the Midwest or heating oil prices dropped...

    New England no power

Like I always asked my kids, “what was the last thing you did before it stopped working?” In this case, yiu did a thorough cleaning and the problem surfaced. Thinking maybe a wire or something got joustled and is causing a short. Just a thought.

Pellets not burning completely, piling up, making black soot. Any ideas why?

You should suspect the need for a wicked good cleaning. Some folks think they are getting everything clean only to find some nook or cranny where ash has accumulated.

Harman Accentra 52i insert - 6 blink status

Just for starters, I’d switch to room temp mode and see if the behavior continues. If it doesn’t, I’d suspect a problem with the ESP probe.

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

It’s not a hard job but I’m not as flexible as I used to be so I had it done. The tech didn’t take long at all to put it in.

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

I have seen good deals on Amazon for Gleason Avery motors and would have bought one of those but since the dealer was sending out a tech, he brought one out and although it works great, it was no deal.

    Accentra 52i combustion motor replacement

I’m not a dexterous as I used to be so I just had a technician due the job. In watching him, getting the fan blade off was the big thing. He did do a lot of the work by feel, with his left hand fudging with the fan side and rings hand reaching around the backside but this was necessary because...

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

Haven’t tackled it yet but my wife says she’s getting tired of listening to it. I guess it will come down to getting the blade off the front. Taking the motor off seems pretty straightforward.

    Lignetics Green Supreme Northeastern Blend

Lignetics bought NEWPS, located in Jaffrey, NH, so my guess is that this “new” name reflects pellets produced at that plant, which would include Green Supremes.

Harmon p52i - how to manual start with igniter fluid?

Per chance, did you install the 52i yourself? I ask because if the stove outlet are not aligned exactly, you might not have a good seal between the stove and the frame and that would, it’s certainly lead to smelling smoke. Regarding manual operation, if you are using constant burn in manual...

Mid-Atlantic (NY, PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA) Accentra 52iTC Hopper size

If you take time to really push the pellets back and up in the hopper as you add more pellets, I think you can technically fit that much into the hopper. I did it a couple of times with my 2014 vintage 52i just to try it but now I just pack it in until it’s 90% full and close the lid.

Soot from Harman Accentra Pellet Stove insert

Ditto, when the insert slides into the frame, it has to all line up just right. Sounds like your exhaust port isn’t flush with the frame gasket leading to the flue.

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

Well, the technician came and deep-cleaned the stove and listened to the noise the combustion/exhaust blower was making. He admitted it was a little louder than normal and that replacing the blower is a b*tch of a job. It was late in the day and I got the distinct impression he just didn’t...

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

We’re on the same page. I expect the blowers will need replacing and was just wondering if I should be looking at OEM or third party blowers. The technician has told me before that the bearings on these motors are sealed and can’t be lubricated. I think he just wants to double check and clean...

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

My hopper lid does have that vibration as well and if I press on the lid or shimmy the stove a bit, it stops. The fan however buzzes on.

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

The technician called and wants to do a thorough cleaning to include the blowers and see if that quiets things down. If not, then the third-party motors seem interesting.

Rhythmic vibration and buzz from Harman 52i combustion fan

Hey all, This heating season, the combustion blower of my 2014 vintage Accentra 52i has developed a rhythmic vibration where every 10 second or so it will begin to give off a low pitched buzzing sound and then the sound will mostly fade away from 10-15 seconds. It’s getting so you can set your...

Harman Accentra F/S won’t go on

Before you start troubleshooting to much, unplug the stove and leave it unplugged for a minute or two, then plug it back in and see if that resets the control board. I have had a 52i for four years and on two or three occasions, I have had to do this. I’m guessing a power fluctuation somehow...
