Light bulb burned out ;)
Not sure, kept looking at the idea of an auger, but too $$$$$$$$$$$$
Did not want this thing to get into the high budget category as it defeats the entire reason for using the shells.
Getting the nut shells (Our chosen fuel) out of the dumpster we haul them in has always been a challenge up until now.
We did our first load back in October and did it with much manual labor.
After nursing cramping muscles for a day or two I decided that there had to be a better way, but still...
Good luck on the pellet hunt.
We won't start worrying about shells until October (After harvest is going good)
Last season we got caught with our pants down. We waited until the end of November and things were almost finished up.
Not gonna wait this year.
Will get stuff done early...
Still busy, but decided to drop by see wasssssup
Changed my Avatar to something a little more spiffy.
LR/DR makeover done (With a couple little things still hanging loose due to lack of enthusiasm) ;lol
Took a hiatus and decided to build a new computer and got mired in that...
The gaskets stick to the housing and the motor flange.
Remove the nuts and the bolt and wiggle the motor til it comes off.
The gasket it going to be sacrificed in the process, so plan on getting a spare or two plus one to replace the one thats there.
This is a normal "consumable" item
WE have a 2300 ft ranch and utilize 3 stoves placed throughout the house to efficiently heat it
We have a large Whitfield in the family room which is in the North middle bordering the bedrooms.
Diagonally through the house to the far opposite end on the south side is a Small Whitfield and...
Just me and the other half beating on this thing.
YARD WORK WASSSSAT ??
We are very rural and use a rear PTO mower on the tractor to keep the grass/weeds down.
The idea of the wall decor has been in my mind since we did the similar thing in the family room back in 2010.
After the wall had...
Totally fried now.
Started this back in mid May when we decided to do the remodel.
A few tid bits left to get finished, but pretty much done.
one small wall area in the entry from the laundry room that still has to be painted.
What a job.
Snapped these yesterday.
Just need to paint...
More pics of the new
When the piccy of the hearth was taken there is still a bit of hand touch up work and things to be finished on the project.
The wood box (Fake) still needs more work and the fake logs painted in over a flat black backdrop.
Tedious hand work, but the look is gonna add a...
Been off doing my thing.
We contracted a new roof for the house, and then with all the dust from the roof getting thumped and worked on we decided to do a end to end cleaning.
Down came the drapes, YUCK ... time for new drapes in the living/dinning room
Walls needed a paint job.
Not ready yet.
A few hot days then back to feeding the fire.
Yesterday the stove was on until early afternoon, then off through the night.
Cold this morning, so running the big stove for a while.
We are ending the season with a large quantity of shells barreled up, far more than I had...
The picture labeled H and J really show the extent of the "Butchery" that some will go to in trying to fix stuff.
I saved the fan box, and the motor was actually new as was the fan blade.
The blade had only a small amount of light soot on it.
This thing never ran long after it was butchered...
Recently got the bug to do some stove stuff to keep from going stir crazy.
Bought a little Whit off Craigs list and dragged it home last week.
Tin was in good shape and not bent up, but the dirt, rust and other crud was just awful
Poor little fellow had been been stored in an outbuilding and...
Weather has been ON AND OFF
The past few days were in the 80's F
This morning its back to April weather and the little stove is doing it's thing again.
Looking like the rest of this week and most of next week will be cool and wet.
Not done with the stoves yet.
Doubtful we will use the big...
I came back to this post as I recently picked up some bad boards in the hopes of refurbishing them.
The components are all standard off the shelf stuff.
The IC chips can be found cheap on ebay and the resistors are an easy pickup at any electronics supply, or ebay as well.
The resistor in...
We have 2 of these here at the ranch and have had since 1993.
Does the unit have the metal fire pot ???
Likely it does.
The clay pots did not last all that long.
The one thing that can chase you all over is not always obvious.
The steel fire pots have a nasty habit of cracking in the...
Can I ask you, Why a new stove ?????
There are tons of good used ones available at good prices.
Simply go through a used one and put it in top shape and then you know what you have.
And at far less $$$$$$$$$$$ than a new one.
Just asking ????
Both of our Whits, the raised hearth and wall...
Many stoves have a phase controller in the control board that will adjust the fan speed when the feed rate is raised or lowered.
If you want to know for sure, use a VOM and measure the voltage at the draft fan plug with it running and move the heat selector through the various ranges.
My bet is that when the glass was re-positioned with the new gasket that the stress points were likely in a slightly different spot and when it go hot KACHINK.
This is not real common, but does happen.
Glad you are back up and running.
More goodies came in the mail Monday, so I was able to verify hole sizes and finish drilling the panel.
Got the drilling done and decided to do a complete "Dress Rehearsal"
The scratches in the center of the panel are very ugly in the piccy, but are extremely light in reality and once the...
Went out today after breakfast and stopped by Fry's Electronics.
Got a few terminals and some other tidbits.
Went to work on the self contained resistor terminal blocks.
These allow the fixed resistor to be easily swapped out of the system if need be.
These terminal blocks fasten into the...
