    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

No luck with the flashlight test. I’m at my wits end. Now I’m trying to find a professional to look at it.

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

Door gasket is good with bill test. I think I’ll pull the bricks and shine a flashlight around inside.. see if any light shows on the outside.

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

I don’t think it ever smells when fully open. Fan speed doesn’t seem to make any difference. I’ll check the door and glass gasket.

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

Nothing like the smell of burning plastic! I've pulled the stove and looked and looked for something out for place... to no avail.

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

According to the manual diagram the secondary intake is on the bottom at the rear of the stove. But of course I have never actually seen it/them. What could be wrong with the blower wiring?

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

No. The block off plate is roxul. The liner that extends below the block off plate is wrapped in roxul. The wrapping also covers the top part of the stove collar and thus seals the joint between the liner/adapter and adapter/collar.

    Enviro Kodiak 1700 Problem

So I have an enviro kodiak 1700 installed with 20' 5.5" ss liner and roxul block of plate. The stove works great; no complaints with operation or burning. But there is one problem... if I turn down the air too much or too soon I get a significant smell coming from the fan air stream coming out...

    Century Heating CW2500 Blower

I find that the noise level at anything under about 3/4 is unobtrusive. At full blast it's a little loud but I usually set it at the lowest setting and it does a good job of getting the heat out. I don't thing these blowers are really meant to move a ton of air... just keep a constant light flow...

    Smoke escaping on startup normal?

Flue and cap were indeed cleaned. There isn't any blanket on my stove. The baffle is firebrick with nothing on top. It doesn't really make sense to me that any smoke would travel out through the secondary tubes when ZERO smoke comes out the door opening. And I can plainly see what looks like all...

    Smoke escaping on startup normal?

This is my second year of burning the wood stove. Absolutely love it! I don't burn as my primary source of heat... evenings and weekends when I'm around the house. But I've noticed a funny thing this year that I don't remember happening last year. If I leave the door open for more than 5 or 10...

    Century CW2500 - Did I make a Mistake?

Where is your thermometer placed? I also have this stove and the only place I can think to put it is just above and to the left of the door (on the face, not the top of stove). You don't want it on top like most stoves because there is an air gap for hot air to blow through from the fan. I'm not...

considering a Century 2500 insert, what other inserts are available for under $1000

Wow! I purchased the CW2500 last winter as my first ever wood stove. I was torn between the similar Drolet insert and the CW2500. I went with the century because it was a bit cheaper and because it was supposed to have a bigger firebox. If I had of known the true sizes I definitely would have...

    Can't light the stove tonight

Well the negative draft continues to happen more often than not if the stove has been cold for a few days. BUT, I've found a solutions that works. Take a hair dryer point it up into the where the smoke goes just above the inside of the door and 30 seconds later, draft is going up again. Works...

    Can't light the stove tonight

I had the hair dryer all ready to go this afternoon. Went to light the stove and had NO cold air coming in at all. The fire lit right up with zero smoke.

    Can't light the stove tonight

I do have a furnace in the basement and a return duct in the same room. It is a large room however and the return is a good 25 ft away but this may be part of my problem. I've made sure that the furnace isn't running when I'm trying to light the stove. But it may be that the furnace return is...

    Can't light the stove tonight

Last night I tried a firestarter with some pine kindling with the door slightly cracked... got smoked out again... Arggg. Today I'll be breaking out the hair dryer. Wish me luck. This looks cool... www.drawcollar.com but pretty expensive.

    Can't light the stove tonight

Well, I went to light to stove this afternoon and the reverse draft wasn't nearly as strong and I was able to get air going back up easily. Go figure. Hopefully that strong reverse draft is not going to be the norm. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Hopefully I won't need it again but if it...

    Can't light the stove tonight

Basement installation. Century Insert. Exterior chimney with 32' 5.5" uninsulated liner blocked off top and bottom. After searching and reading many other posts regarding this issue, it looks like this is a common complaint for basement installations.

    Can't light the stove tonight

The other day I went to light up the stove and had MAJOR smoke spillage into the room. I'm talking at least a few minutes of billowing smoke that filled the room. Not fun. I've noticed a reverse draft often times when I go to start up the fire but I've always lit a piece of newspaper in the...

    Cold air infiltration

Yeah, the chimney is taller than the house but only by a few feet. My attic has r50 blown in cellulose and all new windows so there shouldn't be any excessive leaks there.

Help Diagnose! Low temps that I can't maintain!

Where is your temp gauge? You won't get an accurate measurement on top of the firebox because there is a gap between that metal and the firebox for the fan to blow air through. I have the exact same stove and have tried placing the gauge on the top left corner of the front of the stove (right by...

    Cold air infiltration

Yes, some days there is a definite downdraft that I need to reverse before I start the fire. To do so, I roll up piece of newspaper and hold it in the firebox. Some of the smoke usually comes into the room but thats usually enough to get the air going up instead of down. I may try using a...
