Grid backup systems in VT pay off

Tesla says 2 solar wall batteries cost $13000. No idea on financing rates for something l Iike solar batteries, but if it was a vehicle, I'd think you would have a payment of around $250/mo. Quite a bit more than GMPs deal.

    Starting Nc30 - EPA stove

For my setup, I occasionally had a tough time getting the flue drafting. It was all my setup. I had a long horizontal run.

Grid backup systems in VT pay off

Excellent idea, bit confused in the application though. "Going forward, GMP is working toward regulatory approval of a permanent energy storage tariff, which would let customers get whole-home battery backup for around $50 per month, Castonguay said." They are planning to charge their...

Top down will work well, or you can put a charge of newspaper in. Itll light off fast and then go out, charging the flue.

Apparently all my firewood is over 30% MC - Safe to burn?

Yeah, it was a pool company that did me the favor. They had a mountain out back. A sawzall would make quick work of them.

Apparently all my firewood is over 30% MC - Safe to burn?

That's what she said! Lol But back to the topic... pallets got me through the first year. I never got the biobricks to burn well, but I seem to be the only one. Lumber yards often have slab wood that's thin and dries fast. It's kind of like a pallet in tree form. Buy next...

FW240007 weak secondary & fast burn rate?

I can't say mine chewed through wood, but that may be due to your draft. Try turning the air down early.

FW240007 weak secondary & fast burn rate?

Thats a big stack for that small stove! I imagine you have quite a draft! It's a great little stove though. Mine was pretty easy to control, but I didn't have the leaks you did.

Please give me some catalytic stove recommendations

Do you have your wood put up? It's probably getting hard to get by now, especially dry enough for a cat stove.

    Draft/Draw Fix

I'd also air seal the ceilings. Theres a good chance your house is acting like a chimney and overpowering the draft your chimney produces.

Electric cars are changing the cost of driving

We have 3 trucks on the road and just added a 4th on Friday. Our gas bill is about $2300/mo. We're semi retiring the 99 F250 to backup status. I'm hoping the gas saved from a 10-12mpg truck pays for the new one averaging over 19mpg since Friday. 2 of the trucks average 150-200 miles a day...

Picking a wood stove for a 30x36' hoop house.

Itll be different for everybody. Try it after 7 fires to see how much accumulates.then after 14 fires. That sounds like most of your burning season, you may be able to stretch it out further.

I think it finally arrived last night.

This morning my wipers were frozen to the window, I had to tug multiple times to open the door, padlocks were frozen shut, and I had to put a hoodie on because it was 26 outside.
