EKO RKU-2100 Controller Stop Switch Failure

Thanks for the replies.... What makes the AHONA controller different than the PWKEY one? I've also noticed that both the AHONA sold controller and the newer version of the RK2100 both have lower set points on boiler pump launch temp--160deg instead of 170.... not a huge change, but a bit...

    Just finished cleaning the EKO

I am so glad I pulled my turbs out a year ago...what a pain it was to use them..... Even with rotating them at each loading things got fouled up. I tore the whole mess out, made a shaft to chuck in my drill that accepts 1-1/2 inch wire brushes on a hex shaft and now 3 times a year I run them...

EKO RKU-2100 Controller Stop Switch Failure

It's been iffy for weeks, but today my EKO Controller Stop switch failed, which means I can't get it out of Fuel Mode. Anyone else have this problem before? I took the controller apart to see if there was something loose, but no..... Nothing apparent, and nothing which suggests I could...

    Boiler launch temp

I've got a Danfoss on the return with a ball valve on the loop. Once my Storage is up above 150, then I don't see swings at all. It's just when it's at or below 100º that there can be issues. Right now, with the boiler showing 160º+ I am only seeing 118º heading into the storage heat...

    Boiler launch temp

Based on info in this forum, when I installed my Eko 60 I set the boiler pump launch temp at 170ºF. Now that I've had 10 months of burning under my belt I am asking the question, "why?" What is so special about 170º, apart from the fact that it is the highest launch temp setting available on...

Why won't my new radiant circuits work?

Thanks everybody for the input so far! As to the reduction before the cold side of the mixing valve--not ideal, but it was what I had at the time....It doesn't seem to cut back the flow in any significant way....I may just fix it now anyway because I have everything torn apart..... As for the...

Why won't my new radiant circuits work?

Vented the manifold, the pump, the mixing valve at the cold side.....not sure what else I can do....perhaps I'll go crack the supply lines individually at the manifold...something's got to give and get the water flowing......

    Buring pine in an EKO

I burn pine and soft wood slabs in my Eko all the time..... Works fine, but as mentioned it doesn't last long and bigger pieces are subject to bridging. It does help to add hardwood to help keep up the burn and provide a better bed of coals.

Why won't my new radiant circuits work?

I just added a new set of radiant slab loops to my boiler. The closely spaced tees and everything had been there since install. The manifold consists of two cement slab loops--currently turned off due to other issues--and two fresh loops going to a tile floor on plywood and one under a laminate...

    Cleaning EKO Tubes/Abandoning Turbulators?

I did think of chains..... I ritually worked the handle right up until the morning I couldn't move it at all...... So, I burnt some potatoes, cleaned it out and got them working again. However, the boiler never quite gained back it's efficiency. Now, I know that I was burning less than...

    Cleaning EKO Tubes/Abandoning Turbulators?

So the EKO 60 made it through the winter, gradually working worse and worse. The weather here was such that I couldn't give it the break I needed to do a thorough job of cleaning out the heat exchanger tubes. Burning partially seasoned wood and wet seasoned wood did not help. So this week I...

Eko60 update & plea for help

So things have been going pretty smoothly with the EKO 60 since I got it online in January. After a few hiccups it has worked well. Love that I can just go out in the morning, throw some fresh wood on the coals, press start and walk away.... Apart from some minor smoke issues--largely because...

    Air ajustment

The area the boiler is in is open & has enough air from a leaky barn door and hallway to be fine. The woodshed door is right in front and to the left of the boiler, so with it open and a stiff breeze blowing on the fans, they in essence worked faster, I think. I have the fans set at 50% right...

    Air ajustment

Hey, no problem! I find that the slightest thing can cause an EKO to skew what's worked perfectly before..... Today I forgot to close the woodshed door and a breeze was blowing in on the boiler. 5 minutes later I almost had an overheat! That extra bit of air & force cause the thing to burn...

    Air ajustment

Check out this thread here: https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/30449/P30/ It helped me tons! I have a 60 but it's still relevant. Also, what I've found is that my wood just isn't dry enough to create fine ash. I'm getting a lot more debris in the secondary chamber than...

    Tree Bark

I always found fir bark, especially the thick chunks, to burn like coal....hot & fierce, in my wood stove. I am not sure what it would do in the gaser now that I no longer live in Fir country...... I imagine that once you had a thick, red bed of coals you could chuck the fir bark on then, or mix...

Have you found a way to extend the probe for Sure thermometers? I tried with 18awg & Cat5e, but could not get beyond the 6m length the probes came with. I was really hoping to mount my tank thermometers somewhere other than near the tank so I wasn't yarding up & down the cellar steps to monitor...

LOL, I've been pretty much the same way this first week since my system is going. I've been able to back off a bit on it since Sat when I achieved 195º in my storage....... It took some tweaking and some monitoring and graphing temps to know what I was doing in the boiler room had x, y or z...

    Clogged nozzles

I would bet the red oak isn't going to be any better....It is notorious for taking a LONG time to dry. Most people usually wait 2 years before thinking of burning oak. I'm finding with the wood I cut in April of last year, that it even has too much moisture to burn practically unless I mix it...

    Grundfos Pump, Taco flanges?

Thanks for the input lead dog.....I had thought about moving the probe to the outlet, but like you say, this could allow for a huge problem if the boiler is pushed. Instead I raised the probe about 1/16th inch above the top of the boiler. This allows the boiler control to reflect a bit more...

    indoor boiler outdoors.

I was really surprised how little heat my EKO radiates....It is in an outside, poorly insulated shed right now, but you can work around it comfortably, lay your hands right on it and the stack most of the time. The problem with mine is I am worried about it freezing where it is right now, so I...

Tom's liners are rated for 195º They can go higher, but it's not preferred....as if I could get it there! LOL...my wife is a bit of a hot-house flower....but God bless her, she's a practical woman...during the propane regime she was the one who insisted the furnace be kept down so we wouldn't shoot through cash heating this airy hovel...we just kept the wood stoves chock full & going like a steam...

    Grundfos Pump, Taco flanges?

I have low temp rad panels in the house...they start heating at 160º. I can get all the heat for them even after I begin charging storage. Given the area the radiators are trying to heat and the fact that every window in this place leaks air and there is little insulation in some walls I am...

    Flat Panel Radiator Flow

UPDATE: I adjusted the Alpha to constant pressure setting #3 and shot up to 4GPM.....I measured the panel rad output vs where it had been before using an IR thermometer and touch. There wasn't enough difference to make it worth the extra wattage wasted. I just lowered it back to pressure setting...

can only heat my storage to 182 F

Just stumbled in this thread...Great stuff! I've been having trouble breaking the 180º point myself, and noticed the controller was stopping at 195º but then diving down to 188º when it restarted....with the actual water temp in the system only at 181 or so. A minor tweak of the probe & I got...
