BRAINTREE —

A house fire on Elmwood Road did only minor damage and caused no injuries.

The blaze, at 22 Elmwood Road, started in the basement when a small wood-pellet stove malfunctioned, setting off alarms inside the house, according to the Braintree Fire Department.

A neighbor called to report the fire shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Fire crews were quick to arrive and put out the fire before it could spread.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Kirkland estimated that the fire did $20,000 worth of smoke damage to the home’s interior. No structural damage was done, he said.

Dang, more of the usual lack-of-details or explanation. Such stories are like hearing of someone like yourself who drops dead for no apparent reason. It's informative in a way, but not in a good way since no information is obtained as to the cause or how to prevent it.
