Building a step up hearth for a Harman P68

I want to build my own step-up hearth for a Harman P-68. Anyone have any idea what size I should build it? Plan on being 4 inches high, with 1 1/2 slate for the top layer (beneath stove). Regular wall mount, square (not corner).

follow the clearance specs in the owners manual, but at least 40"x40"
