This was actually a memorial day fire at the VA hospital next door to me. Apparently this is a military tradition. I only found out about it this year. The local paper said that the pile is supposed to be 21 feet square by 21 feet tall. That's 72.35 cords! They started the fire at dusk, this picture was taken at about 11pm. The size of this thing is amazing! As is the amount of heat it puts out.

Wow....now that's a campfire....holy crap...
is that you Flatbed posing proudly in front of the fire??

too bad the wood wasn't cut /split and offered to win by buying raffle tickets...man, how much $$ could they have raised????

It does seem a terrible waste of wood.

Not for nothing, but with you being all blurry and stuff, it looks like something out of a horror movie.
