my manual says nothing about taking the circulation fan out to clean it. All it says to oil the motor. I can see the fan from the opposite side and there really is not that much build up. Should I still try and take it out and clean it? It looks like it could be a little difficult to take off also...so I don't know.
 
kozi 120, like I said, the manual I have in hand says nothing about removing it.

not every svc manual/Owners manual is created equally.
eventually all the fans will need to come off for cleaning, no getting around it!!

I agree. So long as you can put it all back together correctly you have nothing to lose, and it definitely beats having a dust bunny throw the fan off balance and make a racket in the middle of January.
