Eko 40 stove pipe reduction

I will be reducing the stove pipe on my eko 40 to 7" . Is it best to reduce it right at the boiler or as far away as possible, I will have about 8' till the single wall pipe meets the 7" double wall insulated stainless chimney pipe.

I go from 8" to 6" within 2' of my boiler. No problems whatsoever...
 
Dido, I go from 8" - 7" within 24" with the final reduction at the chimney.
