Englander furnace glass gasket replacement?

I have the 28-3500 and just finished the door gaskets but the glass gasket I don't get. It's more of a "ribbon" than a rope with adhesive on one side. I know basically how it fits into the door, I just don't know whether the adhesive side is supposed to be on the door or the glass?
