There was a full solar eclipse yesterday, visible in Australia. It reminded me of the one we had here on May 20th of this year. My son and I took our cameras, found a great spot to view, and took a few dozen shots. My battery failed a couple minutes in so we worked together, he manned the camera and I held two pairs of sunglasses in front of the lens to attenuate the brightness enough to stop the cam from overexposing everything! Some of them came out great, including this one. Look at it full size... very eerie... the proverbial "Eye in the Sky". [Hearth.com] Eye in the Sky

It will be several hundred years before the US sees one again.

Nice pic. There's gonna be a total eclipse in the lower 48 on August 21, 2017.

Is that so? They made such a big deal on TV about this being the last one we'd see for a couple centuries.

Yes grandpa, you're right... The Weather Channel, whose detailed coverage I watched and where I got the info, is unscientific and shouldn't be trusted.
Oh, BTW, it's rather disingenuous to be 'sorry' about something you haven't posted yet, just use the Delete key BEFORE you hit 'Post Reply'.
