Found this stove for free thinking it’s a grandma bear. I have no idea what’s on top of it or how the top got dented in. I have not yet picked but any shared knowledge is appreciated.

It's an insert and it has been overfired badly causing the top to warp pretty badly. It's probably still safe to use just check over it closely for cracks
