flue collar adapters

No one, I mean no one has the correct adapter for Dura black stove pipe into my flue collar (which is also 6 inch)....I don't want to wait for another 3 weeks to order one sooooo....would I be safe to just cut a small slit or two to get it wedged in there (the pipe is not crimped) and then screw it to the collar?
 
If its single wall pipe. Go to Home Depot, in the ductwork dept., get a pipe crimper tool, use it to crimp the end of the pipe, and it should slide right into the stove collar.
