I am installing an nc13 and am wondering if you guys feel that a flue pipe damper and a flue pipe cleanout are worth installing? I'll be running about 13 ft. of pipe and chimney if that matters.

Thanks

Cameron

With a short chimney like that you probably won't need a damper. A damper will actually hurt your situation most likely with a short chimney.

People who install good clean out access in their systems are awesome!!

Sure! Even in the open position the damper blocks off a portion of the flue. If you have a marginal draft already (such as a short 13' chimney) the small bit which is blocked by the open flue damper will further hurt the situation. Try running the stove without one first and see how it performs. They can always be added later easily.

Clean out . . . yes.

Flue damper . . . no.

Many folks that have the clean outs love them . . . flue dampers are typically not necessary unless you have an excessive draft -- which often comes from a tall chimney.
