Glass gasket on Enviro ef5 -only three Sides?

I'm changingth glass on my evolution. The pictures of the enviro part shows the gasket on three edges only.

When I pulled the glass out, the old gasket does not exist on the top.

Does this make sense? I I would have thought it would be fully sealed all around....

most of the enviro stove are done that way on three sides, so that the stove can draw air in down the glass to try and keep it clean.

I thought maybe that was it, but just don't have the knowledge yet about pellet stoves.
