Does the 61A burn corn and grass pellets. And does anyone have any recomendations on back up power options. They offered a back up power unit for 300 then you needed a marine battery.

Hi Deadeye:

The P61A has burnt grass pellets (Cornell http://www.grassbioenergy.org/res/pellet_stove_demo.asp#stove

You may want to check out the i burn corn forum for info on burning corn (http://forum.iburncorn.com/index.php?sid=dfd0859027c00c669e21b3b4914f65a3

However, the stove and the vent pipe may not be guaranteed if you are not using wood pellets (I think the manual for the stove states that it can burn standard or premium grade wood pellets - does not mention corn or grass pellets). I believe that corn is much harder on the vent pipe as opposed to wood pellets.

As for back up, how long do you want the stove to run for? You need to get a big enough UPS. Here is a link to a thread on the P61A power draw.
