When last we left our heroes, Dune and Larry had entered the demolished bathroom and successfully installed the bathroom sink and the shower. Russ installed the toilet. The tile guys installed the floor. Frank had begun installing the ceiling fan, but could not finish due to lack of a ceiling. Mary-Anne was trying to get bids from professional carpenters for construction of a ramp up to the front door, and was exploring the pros and cons of wood and steel and aluminum ramps.

Well...Goose came home, and decided that he would really like to have a wooden ramp designed by him and built by volunteers. We even found some more local volunteers, friends of our neighbors, Brian and Mariles and Liam, whom some of you met at the initial build week-end, and people connected to the local chapter of the ACM. This group includes Russ, who has a truck, with a trailer, in case wood needs to be fetched at the last minute. We may get it delivered if we can. Goose is using the ramp design from
http://wheelchairramp.org/

Mary-Anne has been speaking nicely to one of the local building inspectors, and she and Goose have gathered and filled in the requested paperwork, so it looks as if we will have a building permit.

The plan is that construction will begin at about 9 a.m. on Saturday 5/22, rain or shine.

A bunch of us will build about 7 "modules" on the driveway in front of the garage (or in the garage if it rains). More of us will transport the modules to the appropriate location and attach them.

If we have extra people, others of us will put up and paint the bathroom ceiling, and cover holes in the walls with sheetrock and mud. If Frank or someone else who knows how is present, we may even install the rest of the ceiling fan.

While tools would be welcome in general, it was suggested that palm nailers would be especially useful for the ramp.

Domi has offered to cook, again, so there will be good food.

Everyone willing to help is welcome. If you are only free part of the day, that is fine too. Construction expertise is nice but not required. We expect to already have plenty of opinions present.

Goose is still working on digging through stuff in order to be able to roll to his computer.

I hope to see many of you there. Thanks for past and future help.

Mary-Anne
