quick question.

ive got my wood stove in place in my detached garage. can i run stainless steel (supervent) straight from the stove instead of using double lined black pipe. ive seen it done but wanted to check with you pros. ive got extra brand new and figured why not use it (plus it looks vey nice). so it would go 1)stove2)3ft ss silver double lined3)double lined black elbow4)2 ft ss silver with capped/sealed covers out wall5)ss silver elbow with 2 3 ft ss silver pipes to a 3 ft pipe end cover

any advice would be appreciated. merry christmas

how would you get the chimney off the stove for cleaning? you need some adjustable piece between the stove so you can remove the stove for service and what not.

what ive noticed is that i can sit the 1st piece right onto the stove male pipe end, and quite snug. i figured when it came time to clean couldnt i just remove that one piece from the double black elbow. thanks

From a safety standpoint, there is no reason that I'm aware of, that you can't directly connect Class A chimney directly to the appliance.

Anyone else want to chime in?

Also, because that if the garage has cars, flammable liquids, etc stored in it, its probably not in your best interest to install a stove there.

Im thinking you wont get a very good connection with class A at the stove outlet and it will leak like crazy. Plus as stated above its not legal in a garage. Now if you call it a shop.... In Ca all fired appliances in a garage must me 18" off the ground. This includes gas fired waterheater's.

Most mobile home installs - at least in my day, required the class A to come right down and sit on the stove. As long as support and fastening issues are taken care of properly, I see no problem with this. A straight up chimney could possibly be cleaned from the top without removal of any pipel

Workshops are what the vast majority of garages are use for.
It has been years since cars were kept inside a garage.

Its actually a guest house now. no cars. full insulated to the tees. sits on concrete base to code so the 18 inch doesnt come into play in canada. and ive done the floor/wall /ceiling to code +

i was worried about this also. but there must be a way i can seal it 100 % or close. maybe not

this stove wont get used 1/10 the normal house use so ill clean it every 3/4 years

Ok so its not a garage. If you can get a good seal at the stove with Class A go for it. If not a short piece of single wall should work if you can find an adapter.

That was a setup for BB good one webwisow

Angle here, now Jimmy boy, you may need is a s single wall stove starter piece it fits in the stove collar then into the double wall ss piece I belive it is a 3" piece corugated on both ends
or you could make up a piece using crimpers
