Interesting new battery technology development out of MIT

This is a revival of an older flow battery concept, but with a new approach that improves efficiency greatly (10X). It will be interesting to see how this one develops.

Yep, energy storage is key. Though it might end up in different packages, depending on the need. There is interesting stuff happening on the super-capacitor front too. Still, it's hard to beat the compact power and convenience of a gallon of petrol. At $4/gallon it is still cheap when you consider all the hundreds of hours of labor that one gallon affords. I was thinking about this while field mowing yesterday.
