hello, im looking for some advice, just moved house it has a jotul mf3 log burner, dont know much about them so got a chimney sweep to check it was good to use.
I was told its missing a top plate/ *is this also known as a top baffle?)
I understand the stove is now discontinued so im struggling to find this part, i was told without it the stove will not hold its heat and at risk of fire going up the chimney
does anyone have knowledge of this stove, where i could source this plate and if there are generic ones that might do the job?

thanks!

The top plate usually refers to the lid or top of the stove. That would be visually very obvious. The baffle plate is internal and only visible if one opens the stove door and looks inside toward the flue exit. If you can post some pictures of the outside and the inside of the stove, we may be able to spot the missing part. The F3 MF is a fairly simple stove so if the baffle is missing it may be possible to have one fabricated in case a new spare can not be found.

It looks like this location in the UK stocks and sells Jotul spares for the F3 MF. The manual lists the part# for the baffle as 10246012. It looks like the F3 TD baffle can be used. eBay show the TD part as the replacement. F3 TD part # is 12015555.

This is the F3 MF baffle plate:
thanks for taking the time to reply, in that case it must be the baffle plate, he said the its likely missing as it probably warped and broke at some point and he was talking about the inside of the stove

Sounds good. I added part numbers for you. It looks like it is still stocked.
