Kohler has had "Closed Loop" EFI in the past. A 26 and 28 HP version. O2 Sensors in the muffler. Were excellent engines and only got a bad rap from folks who blame engine surging on the EFI and don't check on the mechanicals. Like ummm, compression!

Kawasaki's DFI system is a "Open Loop" system that resembles the TBI GM used on the smaller V6's & 4 bangers of the late 80's/early 90's. Also an excellent system but a bit finicky compared to Kohlers. Love the liquid cooling tho.

Both systems beat the snot out of newer EPA carburetors on small engines that are generally non-adjustable and often do not respond well to cleaning/rebuilding. Miserable cold starts on some to boot.
