My wife has been hinting that we need to redo our bathroom and I agree. our bathroom is very narrow 5 feet to be exact and I would like to take 3 feet from our bedroom and make the room wider. Well in the discussion it came up that she wants a clawfoot tub in the room. My question is, do i need to reinforce the flooring on the bathroom, headers joists since these kinds of tubs are extremely heavy. Initial discussion, nothing solid yet. thanks.

Would need to know the joist size and span. A tub full of water weights more then the tub itself.
Also remember a claw foot tub has 4 small points for the weight, I would make sure that those are on something solid.

The house we bought has a clawfoot bathtub, but I think it's fiberglass. It looks pretty good and they may even have them at the big box stores.
I also put in an acrylic claw foot tub . Carried it up the
stairs on my back by my self . It weights less than the old steel one
Also does not need so much hot water as it does not suck up the
heat as the cast iron ones do . The wife loves it .
