before secondary burner tubes in the lopi woodstoves they had an iron plate, set diagonally above the fire bed.thats what ive got.the plate or baffle has a 1 or 2" lip. does that go up or down? is that for reinforcement or does it deflect the smoke? do you put fire brick on it? do you ever move it forward, to allow air to go out the back side?

Which model do you have? Normally the baffle is used to slow the smoke down before it goes out the chimney. Generally the baffles are pushed towards the rear of the stove. It would be better if we knew the model, so one of us could look for the owners manual online or contact a Lopi dealer for you.

If you are talking on the top of the burn tubes, that holds the bricks up in place.

NO NO THIS IS AN 80,S MODEL/WAY BEFORE BURN TUBES.THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY OBSCURE ISSUE,BECAUSE NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE ANY MORE OF A CLUE THAN i DO.OH WELL ITS NO BIG DEAL.JEAS FUGIDABOUDIT
