I have a Lopi Yankee Bay insert that I've had since the beginning of this year (bought it new in January). Toward the end of last heating season, it would show a fault on the flow switch when running below a heat setting of 3 and the stove would shut down after the startup cycle. On 3 and above it would run fine. This fall I went through and cleaned everything out (including the tube for the flow switch) and it is still doing the same thing. I suspected a door gasket leak, so this weekend I went and adjusted it so that it seals better (though I suspect it still might not be perfect - it's very difficult to adjust, but that's another topic). Last night I ran it on a heat setting of 2 and it ran fine and shutdown when the thermostat told it to. When I woke up this morning it had faulted again and the glass was somewhat sooty.

The part that troubles me is that it runs fine on or above a heat setting of 3, but not below it. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am starting to think that perhaps the control board is turning the exhaust fan down too much when on a lower setting. I would think that if the air leak were that bad it wouldn't run well at all on any heat setting.
 
I am interested in comments as well - have a yankee bay installed in may and started using this in september - fault codes, does not run more than 6-8 hours. sooty glass, bad ash pan, air leaks. the dealers has been out but no solution as yet...and having to use the oil furnace
 
So, I just had the stove in manual mode on heat settings 1 and 2 and it seemed to be burning fine. I suspect that the issue only occurs in auto mode, so I will see what it does in the morning when the thermostat calls for heat. I am starting to suspect more and more that the control board has a problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Are there any known control board issues with these stoves?

Also, I noticed in the manual that it mentions the ashpan having a gasket on it. There is definitely no gasket on my ashpan. Could this be a part of the issue?

My stove seems to be doing alright now. I'm starting to think it was an air leak and not the control board. There was a lot of useful service info posted in this thread (if you haven't seen it already): https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/26848/
 
Thanks for all the info here - the dealer is coming out today to install a new control board, and to check for an air leak. I did the "dollor bill" test and the top of the door is not tight. They are also taking the remote back and will be using the wired t-stat now, and putting new leveling legs on the front. I think this will do it! Will let you know.

Hey, I believe we qualify as Pellet Pigs! lopi yankee bay, new this year, 6 1/2 tons picked up on my husbands commercial grade truck - 2 trips paid for in cash. Told my mother to get a pellet stove, she did and we picked up 5 tons for her as well. (BTW, her stove - Leyden - is working perfectly!!!) Inlaws just purchased a pellet stove to be installed later this month - 4 tons there. And we all have full oil tanks - for hot water. No, not stocking up - this is called "thinking ahead" and "planning" - back in April we ordered our stoves and pellets anticipating a supply problem then....duh!!!!
 
I bought my pellets back in April - I do every year as it's a lot cheaper and saves me from worrying about supply later on. I've got around 3.5 tons of Hamer pellets in the basement and usually only burn about 3 (or did with my previous stove). I don't use oil anymore as my hot water heater is now natural gas and the last time I tried turning on the boiler it filled the basement with smoke. I couldn't justify fixing it since it's never used! Good luck with your stove - I hope you get all your issues fixed. Let me know how it turns out for you.
