Hey everybody,

This forum has been a great resource in guiding our purchase decision. Thanks for all the info! We purchased and installed a new XXV in October, and are happy with it. It replaced our circa 1978 woodstove, shown in the first photo, that was here when we bought the house.

Our XXV has the top vent kit, and the 6" stove pipe is venting into an interior masonry chimney with an 8" X 8" tile flue. We opted to not go with a liner, and so far we've been happy with the performance of the stove. We're burning Okanagans which seem to be working well for us.

We're heating a 2000 sq. ft. moderately well insulated passive solar colonial - the XXV is our primary heat source. We get approximately 20% of our heat load from the sun, and the other 80% from the XXV. We have'nt turned on our electric heat since we installed the stove - it and the sun are providing all of our heat. Which needless to say we're thrilled about. The XXV is located in the center of the open first floor. We're burning 1.0 - 1.3 bags a day with the stove in "room-temp" mode set at 72 when we're home and awake, and set at 65 when we're at work/school and at night.

Thanks again for all of the info and looking forward to learning lots more from this forum.

Very nice looking install s_buck ! Enjoy the warmth !

Thanks checkthisout and Wi Thundercat, although I can't really take much credit for how it came out, what with the hearth and thimble already there. One of the reasons we chose the XXV is because it's essentially in the middle of our living rm/dining rm area, and we'll be looking at it year round - so the aesthetics of the stove were important to us.

Looks fantastic.
