I need a tree guy.... climber, bucket truck, or someone braver (dumber) on a ladder than me in Lisbon, CT, to give an estimate.

I have a tree that I need topped about 20' from the ground. I need you to be insured/licensed. You do not need to clean up/chip brush. I will not pay you in wood or beer; unless that is what you really want. This is a small cash job. I will keep all cords, chords, face cords, ricks, dictionary cords unless that is what we agree upon.

Seriously, I have a tree job, I will pay cash, and I want a forum member to have the first shot at the work. Really, its one oak and it won't make you rich but, I wanted to make the offer here first.

PM me.

I'll sweeten the pot.

I will post, for Backwoods Savage's enjoyment, an hour long video of me splitting the tree vertically, if a member takes the job. I cannot assure the video will be work safe.

Hum.... Maybe I should put the saw in the car and drive out there?!

No on the work...But if Sav drives down, I'm comin' to meet him.

--My brother and I once split a 10' x 36" Ash... lengthwise...not reccomended...ever...6 wedges, 2 chain saws, 2 mauls and a sledge!

Yea pick me up I think there is an easy way to top it over.....I mean top it! :cheese:

There's a guy in Colchester that I got a quote from last year to drop a tree and leave me the wood. I said I'd clean evrything up myself. $100. Haven't used him yet but plan to this fall. The tree I want him to take down is just too close to the power lines.

He has a sign out on rt 149 just south of the rt 16 intersection. Sells C/S/D too, can't remember the price.

It's that licensed and insured part hat excludes almost everyone here. Sounds like you have a good lead now, but if that doesn't work out for you, then try over on the AS forum...

I'm picturing the guy dressed as an Elvis impersonator with a harness up in the tree.

"TIMBER!! lil' darlin'. Than-q very much"

I'll follow up on Greg's lead but, if Sav drives down I'll do my best to host a forum party! I'd love to meet him and a few others here. May not be too fancy though; today is either the start of my vacation or my layoff. I won't know until the 25th when I am "supposed" to return to work.

Hmmmmm....ideas. Slowest chain sharpening drinks. Slowest C/S/S cord drinks a lot. Party foul for splitting vertically?

Humm........... Maybe if we do make the trip out there this fall we may have to make a few extra stops.

Bring a load of that 6 year old ash so we rookies know what a properly seasoned fire feels like!

Hey, I still have a few splits older than that!

Pay my plane ticket and I'll bring my gear. No joke, my wife has some time off in September...

Make sure to bring an extra milk crate along if you do!
