I built 2 saw bucks out of old decking works great
 
I posted some pics of the one I made for $3 or something--two 2X4's and a couple carriage bolts--and it's foldable! Why would you buy one when you can play with tools and make one?!

That's how I used to cut slab wood. But I made mine out of 2x3s. or 2x4 ripped in half.
I made a couple. Never ruined one with a saw, but I did back over one once.
 
I liked the idea of this saw buck and found an old red wood table top that I had in my wood pile for over 15 years. It took me about an hour to break it down and rebuild it into the design of this saw buck. Tried it out today and it worked fantastic. I will start another thread on this.
