Question:

Could wood pellets be used as a fire starter? It is made from sawdust, which I believe is the same as fire starters. I know they burn hot so would just use a few to start. Am I missing something with this idea? It seems like it would be cheaper.

Answer:

Pellets are quite dense and difficult to ignite when used as a fire starter. In fact, many people use liquid or gel fire starters to get their pellets started. A handful of pellets and some starter together may help do the job
