Hello,

We finally purchased a wood stove after searching for many months on craigslist. It's an 2008 isle royal that is in perfect condition for 800.00! It was only used for 1 season. Love craigslist!! Just a quick question about floor protection. The stove will be used in a 400 sq. ft. sunroom with all large ceramic floor tiles, no carpet at all. It will be a corner install. Do we still need an an addition floor protector, even though the entire floor is non-combustible?

Thank you!

Does the manual state any required r-value for the hearth?

What materials are under the tile? I assume some sort of self leveling concrete over durock or something similar, and then plywood subfloor under that?

If your manual states a specific r-value needed, you can look up the r values for tile, durock, etc on the hearth wiki to make sure you meet the requirement between the stove and the plywood subfloor.

In that case, even if there is an r-value requirement, there is nothing combustable under the tile.

You've got it made!

Thank you for the response, I know it sound like a stupid question since everything is non-combustabe, but don't want to just assume anything when it comes to proper installation :)
