So the wife and I dragger home the stove last saturday and I've had a chance to take a look at the pipe kit with the stove pieces.

My concern was that when I slipped the adapter (dura-vent Pellevent Pro) over the cast exhaust outlet of the XXV the tapered outlet the inner pipe slips into the ID of the cast outlet. This seems weird to me as ideally you would want the exhaust outlet to be inside the inner pipe. The pipe kit of the 3" variety.

Looks at the fit of the inner pipe OD to the cast pipe ID, it's pretty close and I could see where the high temp silicone would likely seal it well enough. The outer pipe ID fits very well over the cast outlet OD.

The other thing the XXV install instructions mention is that you should put two screws through the pipe into the cast outlet. Thats fine and it make sense to secure that connection, but I would basically have to have the screw passing through the outer pipe and inner pipe on the adapter so that the screws could screw into the cast outlet.

I'm guessing that what I have here is a standard setup and it's just be being retentive and particular about how things go together.

I'd like to start installing but I'd hate to get into it and discover that I should have had a different pipe adapter.

Thanks
Bob

I'm having trouble with linkage to Photobucket. The url, if copied and pasted is correct, but the clickable link isn't

what you're seeing on the adapter to the flange is sort of "par for the course". Everyones flanges and adapters are slightly different. Just glob some extra silly-cone on the inner lip to make sure it seals well. I've not seen the adapter you are using (sorry, no can click links) but often they have a set of holes for screws, but 'm confused if the inner pipe fits into the flange, why would you have to go through both the outer and inner wall of the adapter to screw into the flange?

fillgap on adapter with silicone and slip it onto cast flange. no screws needed. i have installed many harmans and we have never screwed adapter to flang. silicone welds the adapter to flange. usually have to destroy it to get it off
