Last year installed an Enviro FI on the 1st floor and all is fine. Trouble is, the basement ceiling is insulated and now with the oil burner off it's freezing down there. Averages about
47 degrees. In the winter, we only use it for the washer/dryer and basic home projects.

Definately want a pellet stove that will probably only run dec thru feb. and not every day. Leaning toward either an Englander 25 but with the $400 rebate QuadraFire Santafe seems
interesting.

Any suggestions?

I really like the Enviro's and you already owe one. They are a good stove any one of them. But the England stoves for the money are good stoves too. No major frills but unless the basement is a play room or sometype of living area? Who cares put the Englander in. If the fancy is what its all about then you could go with the Quad. I have owned on of them to. Lasted 12 years and still runs fine. My basement is damp during the summer so it is all rusty now. But If I cleaned and painted it it would look OK again. It will be a back up stove if my Enviro has any issues.

just my 2. You really need to go by the cost and what you can afford.

Freezing Basement and damp and not finished. Just want to keep it DRY and warm. Like the idea the heat will travel up the stairs.
Was realy going with the englander, just waiting for a HD 10% off coupon which I just got. Hate to re - research the forum but I thought the englander did not have an ash pan so you had to clean it every day.
I scrape my Enviro usually once a day but would prefer if I could to go longer on the cleaning and with the Mrs need an auto ignite and thermo.

If the basement is not finished, don't count on any heat going up the stairs.
Unfinished walls & floors will suck up most of the heat.

I agree with Tink about the heat,,,,only plan on the stove heating the basement. As for which one, get the one that fits your budget better.

I agree pellet stoves don't do a great job of heating the upper part of the house from the basement (unless the house is setup to do so), although some heat does obviously migrate to the upper levels.

With that said, they do an excellent job of space heating an otherwise cold and damp basement.

Thanks - Think I'm going with the Englander 25. Cost effective and just want to keep the basement warm to workin as it was when the oil furnace ran.
Where I locate the stove will be below a colder upper room and was thinking of adding in a floor register to utilize the heat rise.

Originaly got excited with the $ discounts on Harmo/Quadrafire. But the Englander should do it. Just need some heat to maintain warmth and dryness. Read the owner manual, just
trying to figure how I can do a preset on/off time. Don't want a 24/7 burn and would prefer not to have to go downstairs each day for on and off.

I didn't think you can do a preset on/off timer on the englander, at least not on the 25-pdv
