Smoke coming out Hopper after power fail Englander PDVC 25

Before i had my outside air kit and the power would fail it would puff smoke out the small holes on the front of the stove

Not smoke comes from the hopper

Any suggestions?

Is the gasket on your hopper damaged, and is the latch adjusted so it causes the gasket to compress a little bit.

Please describe your venting as well.
