St Croix Afton bay ?

I just bought my first pellet stove , a St Croix Afton bay freestanding stove . I was wondering if anyone out there has one of these or knows anything about them .
Im heating a 2000 square foot ranch and hope to cut some costs with the stove . Any info on this model or ratings about the manufacturer would be great . Thanks .

there are several owners in here who have st croix units , and overall i have seen nothing but happy folks with them. seems to be a solid unit. wish i could tell ya more but im sure some of the afton bay crowd will be along to comment. by the way 2K sq ft if decently insulated is a good size for that unit from what i understand , i imagine it will suprise you how well it heats the house.

I have the St Croix Prescott model, using it to
heat 80% of my 1400 sq ft ranch. Looking at
the manual for your stove, it looks like the mechanics
are the same or very similar between our stoves.

Usage: I run on the #2 setting most of the time and never above #3
other than to do a 30 minute high heat run
which is recommended periodically per the manual.
I love this stove. I've burned over 10 tons in
it over the past 3 years. Maintenance is important
as with any stove. I had never cleaned the blowers
and this past season had to replace a noisy room
air blower. Now I will be removing/cleaning both
fans each season to prolong their life.

Set up in the best location in your home I think you
will be pleased with the stove. Buy your pellets now
and you should find that you will save some on your
heating bills in the Fall/Winter. My oil guy now wants 4.06 a gallon for HHO.
edit: correction. My oil guy went up to 4.10 a gallon! Wtf?

Thanks guys , for the input . I bought the stove second hand and it seems to be in great shape . Other than the brick panel in the back of the stove has a crack in it . Ive read its just for decoration so im not to worried about it . im very excited to get it installed and fired up soon and see how it works out .

I have the afton bay and it work very well. I had no problems with all last winter and have nothing but praise for the stove. It worked off a programable thermostat all winter and i had it set for low burn while we =were at work all day and programmed to come back on at 4pm to 72 degrees, It worked perfect everytime. We burned just under 4 tons of pellets called dry creek (made here locally) and i also tried lignetics which were the best to burn. Good luck and let me know if you any info on the stove.

We installed our Afton Bay on 12/1 so its only been a week, very happy so far, installed it in basement corner, we are still finishing basement but so far all walls are studded and drywalled now we are doing the ceiling and will finish with carpet. It was -6.9 last night and basement was 75 this morning running on #2, very happy
