Any experience out there replacing the middle brick? (The insert with the slot) Seems tough to figure out even where it is in order to work at getting it out - seven years of use and it looks like one surface.
 
I did call after the weekend. Good thing we gave up on looking for the middle brick - our model didn't have one, it was all one piece. But we did need the middle brick that had been sent - so the error caused just a delay and not a big shipping problem. We just needed to get the rest of the set up.

A nice buy-product of rebricking the guts of the thing is that it now works just the way it was always supposed to and never quite did. We start a fire with the door shut, the lever out and the fan on. When we do put the lever in, the temp drops a bit buts comes right back. Knock on wood - it has put an end to the tinkering to get the temp up.
