I haven't burned for almost two weeks. The temps here have been really mild, 50's at night, 60's during the day with a couple of 70's. The house has been staying in the high 60's, but my wife has rheumatoid arthritis. She proclaimed tonight when we came home for work, and it was 66 is the house, that she wanted heat! I said "honey, it is 63 outside, I am afraid I will get it hot in here" She said that's what she wanted, so I fired up one of the two and now its 74 and she is happy. It helps her not hurt so much. I am glad I didn't clean the stoves out yet.

Ah BG, we burned last night too. I would be every night till the late days of may if I had the wood... The night time temps would need to be above 40 to stop me.

Thought I was done the I heard the furnace kick on at 66 .... ran outside grabbed what I could and now she's lit again...
Some of it was partially seasoned.... some was split in Sept 10 .....
This will be an interesting burn

37 degrees here now, east wind off the ocean all day. Lit the chiminea, but the wind was too raw to sit and actually enjoy it. Warm and toasty inside now. Hopefully no frost tonight, everything is budding out.

Yeah, I couldn't believe we're burning tonight again. Bothered by the propane furnace running and the
wood stove sure takes the chill out. With the lows tonight around 42, seems like the fire season should

Firing up a short load now and tonight. I would just put on another layer but we have an elderly dog who's been threatening to move to Florida. Part Pit, so I just do what I'm told.

I just let the boiler take care of it, t stat are at 63*. Too hard to get a fire going and warm the house only a couple degrees and not have it 85* in the house. Not to mention I have been putting in 14-15hr days at work so last thing I want to do is screw around with the stove when I get home.

Hit 62* today at my house so it's definetaly been quite hot lately.

I find wunderground.com to be more accurate than any of the local weather people. After the last couple forecasts of 4-6" snowfalls and all we got was a mere dusting, I gave up on them.

On another note, I went to the cape the other day during the storm, out to Orleans.... man! Was it brutal! I am protected by mountains over here in the valley! Talk about a beating with rain and wind!

Iceman, I am a few miles inland, any east wind can make a nice day very cool, add rain and it is just dismal. It's funny when you can smell the salt air from the ocean on an east wind and I'm 10 miles inland. I don't even look have to look at the weathervane.

Chief, definitely you need to keep it warm for her. That is an awful thing to be stuck with so do all you can to make her comfortable. Hey, we haven't let the fire go out since we restarted it Monday morning. Looks like it will be some time before we will be able to let it die out again. Well, this is April...

I've been watching your weather up there...you guys just can't catch a break. Looks like you got some snow. Well, some day it will warm up. 42 right now here, and dropping. You can probably see why I put another stove in the kitchen now.....I have to keep her warm. Sounds like your new hip is doing ok....so glad to hear that.

We got through to 7pm tonight and decided to light up just to take the chill off things.

Easter set for 75f days so I may well make tomorrows fire the last of the season.

Then it's time for a good old fashioned spring clean

We've had snow two days in a row now. When I came in late this afternoon there was still some snow left on the ground by the house.

It was cold working outside today and it surely felt great sitting next to the Fireview, which has not gone out for a while now nor do we expect it to go out. The fire will continue. Actually, we're doing some remodeling so have some windows out and part of a wall so no insulation. Since Friday we've burned about the same amount of wood or even more than we were burning in January.

I cleaned up my stove area on saturday thinking I was done... Fired it up today after work. Oh well, at least I didn't clean out the ashes. Good for you for keeping the house nice and toasty for your wife. Arthritis is no one's friend.

Still burning away, this has been a long burning season. I started the last week of September and figure I'll be into May before I hang it up at this point! I'm ready for it to end! :lol:
