I was given a pile of this no bark, no leaves, kind of purplish color when I split it. Anyone know what it is?

Some type of walnut or butternut?

I don't know of another wood that grows in your area that would be as dark - gotta be Black Walnut.

It doesn't grow around here, but I heard Catalpa wood can be purple.

Welcome to the forum DeWoodBurner.

That is some pretty good wood you got and the price was right! Get all you can. Store up 2-3 years supply and your stove will be very happy and so will your family.

I`m doing alright then being the smaller stack is about 85% of this stuff and I have to make a few more runs to get the rest.
