would like advice on how to replace the archbrick: what tools to use and steps to follow. it took forever to track down the part and I don't want to blow the install. thanks.
 
No tools needed. Lift each side brick up a little and swing the front edge inward and remove.
The arch brick is then free to fall forward. Piece of cake.
I hope we're talking about the same thing.
If you're talking about the refractory package, do as above and then get in there with a 7/16" socket wrench (or was it 1/2"?) and start disassembling stuff.
