Looking Good!

Good Deal! It's hard to get ahead but when you do...... It's a great feeling! I have this year stacked, next year split and in a pile and the following year in rounds. It's hard to NOT go and get more.

That is NICE. Wish I had the room for that much wood!

Congratulations burntime. Yes, it makes one feel really good to have several years supply of fuel on hand. Especially when you've done it yourself. I do wonder about those 6' high stacks though. Frost heave can make you restack some of those. That is one reason we stop at 4' (actually 4.5' but 4' after drying).

How do you think I got so good at stacking?

Practice makes perfect or a tired man! lol

That's funny, restacking is why I don't stack any more until its dry.

I sometimes leave the pile on the ground for a month, but this time of year I want to get it ready for the next score. I have 2 of my own ash trees coming down and want to get it put up asap. I already have one dead spot on the lawn and would rather keep it to one

I heard ya on the dead spots in the lawn and the material management issues. I built a little stone terrace on the side of the hill to keep the operation out of the lawn and help keep my wife happy. Of course now I just accumulate more wood.

Lots of good looking wood.

I guess I would have never thought that was ok to say to another man? But yes, it feels good to get ahead for a change. I have my trees coming down and it should be more then enough to finish up next years wood and a start on the following. I am going to start moving the seasoned stuff up by the house soon so I will not need another pallet...I hope... ;-)

Yeah, it is a good problem to have when you have no place to put the wood you have. I have a cord of elm rounds sitting in my driveway that I have no place to put and won't for the foreseeable future. Ideally, i would like to wait until January when it is good and frozen. Somehow, I don't think my neighbor's will agree.

Yep, and now I want to keep going. The 2 ash trees I have are near the house and there are 2 shagbark hickories that I will probably drop as well. Those will will stacked this year as well!!!
