Why is my new Charbroil Commercial propane grill smoking so much?

I recently picked up a new Charbroil commercial propane grill. (Someone else had it, but it had never been used.) This is the particular model: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Char-Broil...rared-Gas-Grill-with-1-Side-Burner/5014571169

After seasoning the grill by oiling the grates and emitters and heating them until they stopped smoking, I have cooked some chicken and burgers on the grill. The amount of smoke this puppy puts off is next-level. I have grilled on different types of grills in the past, and I have never seen anything like this. It is so smoky that I literally can't see to flip the burgers at the back of the grill. I can't imagine that it's supposed to work this way, but also can't think what could be wrong.

Any thoughts?

First guess is you might be using the infrared setup to grill normally. The IR is for searing. If the grease was trapped for a long time over the heat it could be really Smokey.

Thanks for the replies. I think that I simply had the grill too hot. I did some burgers and hot dogs again today, and this time turned the burners down as low as they go. Previously, I'd had them up 2/3 or so. Cooking seemed to take hardly any longer, but the smoke was manageable.
